Truth #1: Not every person that comes to your site will need your services but many will. If they leave without you knowing who they are, you have lost these leads, possibly forever.

Truth #2: People who visit your website must leave you their contact information in order for you to capture the lead.

First-time visitors to your website will do one of three things:
1) They will leave your site without doing anything.
2) They will sign up for something, then leave your site.
3) They will respond immediately with a phone call or email.

1. They will leave your site without doing anything. Possibly because you did not did not convince them that you can solve their problem, or you did convince them, but you did not tell them what to do next — ie “Call me at…” “Email me at…” “Purchase my product…” “Sign up for my…”

2. They will sign up for something, then leave your site. Since these people are not calling you or emailing you, you should have something to sign up for or subscribe to when they visit your site in order for them to leave you their contact info. Can you offer something of value free so these people will leave you their contact info and also allow you to contact them? ie “Sign up for my newsletter and you will receive this special report.” If you want to increase the number of people who sign up, then increase the value of what you are offering.

3. They will respond immediately with a phone call or email. Your website spoke to them. They know you can solve their problem. So don’t play hard to get. Make it easy for them to contact you. Place your phone number and email address prominently on every page. Offer a toll free number if you can afford it.

People who respond will want an answer fairly quickly. Try to check your email and phone messages 3-4 times a day, on a schedule so you won’t forget to do it. At the very least, be sure to respond within 24 hours. If you will be away, or if you do not have working hours during the weekend, set up an autoresponder letting them know when they can expect their answer or find someone to answer your emails and calls.

This morning I took a peek at some of the blogs I’ve installed and the websites I’ve worked on. I wanted to see what people have done with them. Something that really surprised me was that even though some of the sites have been up a long time, they didn’t rank very well in Google.

I have the installed so it tells me the page rank of the page I am on. Now, don’t get me wrong, page rank isn’t everything, and it has it’s flaws. It can even be… gulp! WRONG!

But it is an indicator of how well your page is doing. And as for linkbacks, you want your site listed on a page with a rank of 3/10 or better. So, page rank is important.

So when I see a page that’s been up for a year and has no page rank, my first thought is to check if it’s even being indexed. You can check your page now by typing into Google and you will see all the pages that have been indexed. If you have the Google toolbar installed, you can click on the arrow next to the PageRank button and click on to see when the last time the spiders have come by.

If your page isn’t being ranked, one of the first things you should do is check your Meta Header area of your pages. Do you have title tags that contain keywords? Do you have a good description of what the page is about. You can read more about the Meta Header .

Once those are in, then make sure Google knows about your site. Google explains it .

by Donna Gunter, The Online Biz Resource Queen (TM)

If I were starting my business today and was evaluating my website options, I would pick a blogsite over a stand-alone blog or a traditional website. What’s a blogsite? I like to think of this as a blog/website hybrid. It has all the features of a blog, yet acts as a website to help you promote your business.More and more I see new online service business owners choosing blogsites over traditional websites. Some who have started with a traditional website have switched over to a blogsite in the last year. Here are 7 reasons why a blogsite attracts more visitors and helps you get more clients online than a traditional website:

1. Easy to update and maintain. Once created, your blog is almost effortless to update and maintain on a regular basis. All you have to do is log into your administrator interface, create a post in a Word-like environment, publish the post, and it instantly appears on your blogsite. A well-maintained and updated site is one to which visitors return. No longer will your website be the site that you (and time) forgot.

If you are tech-savvy, you may be able to create and install your blogsite yourself using open source software like WordPress, or using a fee-based blogging service like Typepad. If you require technical and graphic assistance to get your blogsite up and running, you can expect to pay at least $300 to create a simple blogsite. The ability to update your site yourself frees you from the need to learn an HTML software program. However, if you choose to use open source software for your blog platform, be sure and have someone on call who can help you troubleshoot when there is a technical problem. As with all technology, it’s not a matter of if a problem will happen, but when it will happen.

2. Create static webpages. The best feature of a blogsite is the ability to create static webpages, like About Us, Our Services, How We Work, etc., as found on a traditional website. Your static pages can be displayed in a navigation bar across the top or down one side of your blogsite, as in a traditional website. These pages can serve as your home page, or the blog part of your site can serve as your homepage instead. Now, anytime you add an additional program or service, you can simply go to your blogsite and instantly update your offerings.

3. Create relationship with visitors. Unlike a traditional website, a blogsite has the blogging feature built in, which permits your visitors to comment on your posts. You do need to post 2-3 times per week to the blog to begin to build the relationship, and then reply to the comments that come in from your visitors. And, your visitors are much more likely to return to your blogsite to see what else you have to say. That doesn’t happen often with a traditional website.

4. Attractive to search engines . Search engines, Google in particular, love blogs. I’ve posted a comment to a blog and had Google index that comment within 5 minutes. How did I know this? Because I have a Google Alert set for my name, and that alert about that post was emailed to me about 5 minutes after I made it. No more waiting for weeks for the search engines to find your site!

5. Uses RSS feeds. No longer do you have to hope and pray that your email reaches its intended target. With the use of RSS feeds, your blog posts are automatically syndicated to anyone who has requested them, and they arrive in your reader’s RSS feeder almost instantly.

6. Promote your business throughout the site . Have a free giveaway or product or affiliate program you want to promote? Now you can easily add that info to a sidebar of your blog and have that show up for the visitor regardless of what page the visitor lands on.

7. Offers Web 2.0 functionality

where to download the easy a movie

. If you’re using any social networking like Facebook or Twitter, most blogging platforms offer a widget or plug-in that will connect your visitor to your social networking profile. There are other plug-ins that make your blogsite searchable, show related blogsites or related posts, display your favorite Amazon.com recommendations, etc. More widgets and plug-in are being developed every day to help you better connect to your visitors.

If your website needs an overhaul or you are about to launch your first site, seriously consider a blogsite. A blogsite will save you money, time and aggravation and get you connected much more quickly to your visitors and to the world at large.

I once changed hosts. I simply had run out of space. My site was small, maybe 5-7 pages but my host only allowed 15 MB and I wanted to add a blog. I had about 2 readers at the time, including my mom. Moving my site was clumsy, but not a huge deal.

You may be thinking about moving your site. Maybe you need more space. Maybe you have experienced down time.

If your site is small it may be easy. But if your site is large it may be a bit trickier to do. Here’s the basic process:

The first thing is that you don’t want to lose any important incoming emails in the process. Set up a dummy email address such as a Yahoo address or Gmail one. Then change the email address

the king’s speechmovies download

to the new one on everything that’s out there.

Next you are going to set up your new host and purchase a dummy domain name. This domain will be for working in so you can name it anything you want.

Now you are going to back up all your files and databases to an online file storage program. If you have a lot of sites to move or you have a very large site you can overload your server causing your host to shut you down. You can notify your old host

download hd due date

the penguins of madagascar – operation – dvd premiere online movie

that you are planning to back up your files and ask them when the best time to do it is, or ask them how many files can you back up at a time and do it over the course of several days.

Ask the new host to do the file transfer for you

the eagle the film in hd

from the old host to the dummy domain name. Especially if you have to move a database. If they don’t do that, then you will have to move the files yourself.

Test everything, all pages, all links. Make sure they all work properly on the new host.

When all pages are working properly, change the DNS (name servers) and wait for them to propogate. This may take a day to two weeks. You may experience down time. This cannot be helped.

Once the domain name has propogated, move the files from the dummy domain name to the correct domain name.

Send out the new email address

buy takers the movie

(which is really the old email address) to everyone you notified in the beginning of this process.

Wait two weeks

download the social network movie

before you cancel the old host just to be sure.

Did you know that they also need to know, like, and trust your website? That’s because your website represents your business, and your business is you

for colored girls download ipod

the sorcerer’s apprentice films online

film online

.

One of the ways your visitors will trust your website is by making things consistent. Surprises in websites are almost always bad. You know you hate pop-ups. You can’t trust them. Links that appear and disappear will make your visitor uneasy and, well, untrusting of you. Your visitor needs to feel comfortable enough with you that they take out their wallet and make a purchase.

It seems logical, yet I see all sorts of things when it comes to navigation links. The navigation links are the links that help your visitors move throughout your website. These links should be the same on every page. They should also be in the same place on every page. No surprises.

Picture this, you are moving along from page to page, really getting into the content on the site. It’s exactly what you’ve been looking for. You’re ready to go to the next page. But, wait! Where’s the links? Where’d they go? What kind of trick is this?

Now, instead of happily moving along to the page where they ask you to take out your credit card, you are stuck. What’s that saying, “A confused mind always says no.”

Having different links on each page makes your website look amateur. You want to guide your visitor through your website. So, don’t unnerve them by changing the placement of the links on each page.

You can have your navigation links at the top. You can have them on the left. Some people even put them on the right. Where ever you put them, just don’t make your visitor have to search for the links to move about your site.

Another thing, if you are linking to a page within your site, do not make it open in a new window. You want your links to be doorways to the rest of the pages. You only want your links to open in a new window when the link will take the person outside of your site. For those of you who don’t like links that open in a new window, it’s perfectly all right to add a note stating, “This link will open in a new window.” No surprises, right?
