What Do You Tweet About?
Mari Smith, Relationship and Buzz Marketing Specialist, asked on her Facebook discussion board, “” She received 7 pages of replies. Yet, they were all so different. How cool!
The reason I am mentioning this is because I believe that there’s a lesson in that post. Mari gave an example of how she wanted the replies. Each reply begins with, “I tweet about…” That’s the part that I think is so cool.
What do you tweet about?
Think about that question for a moment, then go to your Twitter account and click on Profile. You will see your last 20 tweets. Are they saying what you want them to say? Are they addressed to the people you want them to address? Or are they all just “noise” added to the internet.
While replies to others should be spontaneous, many tweets can be planned out in advance so that you can be sure you are adding good content and not just noise.
Here are some things you can tweet about that can be written or planned out in advance:
- daily tips in your area of expertise
- your blog posts (about 3 per week isn’t considered spam)
- inspiring quotes
- helpful Web sites and blogs
- relevant You Tube videos
- witty jokes that only your target market will “get”
I’d love to hear some of your ideas of things to tweet about.
Oh! If you go over to Mari’s question make sure you follow anyone that may be in your target market, anyone who may know someone who’s in your target market, or anyone who may become a strategic partner with you. Hopefully they will follow you back.
